We have seen how targeted training courses are crucial for the labour market. An ever-changing sector such as tourism, above all, requires specific, new technology-oriented skills.

We have also seen that the current university education model does not always respond effectively to business demand.

From an analysis of the university landscape and the needs of the business and industry, SIO (Italian School of Hospitality) has developed an innovative model with a threefold effectiveness:

  • students learn by working with customers and real situations, under the guidance of teachers and practitioners
  • Classroom lessons alternate with the training on the job, to verify in action and in a critical manner the effectiveness of the tools and models learnt in the classroom
  • Companies are actively involved in designing specialised and innovative content, field projects and educational workshops

Inclusion, an added value in SIO training courses

"To be the first Hotel-School in Italy, training through the methodology "learning by doing': this is the vision that the SIO (Italian School of Hospitality) wanted to adopt, then declining it in the four points of the Mission:

  • Internationalisation attracting excellent students from all over the world to create the new managerial class
  • Innovation sustainable and digitisation of the hospitality sector
  • Enhancement and codification of the Italian hospitality model (Italian lifestyle)
  • Enhancement of Italy's reputation as a destination through a network of alumni "ambassadors'

Completing this ambitious mission is theinclusiona fundamental point that adds value. SIO strongly wanted to abolish ideological barriers, facilitating the access of people with disabilities to the high-profile training that this school provides. A choice based on the conviction that each person is unique and can make a valuable contribution to the success of a group. A decision made with a view to the Social Responsibility that every school and every company should pursue with courage and passion.

Established at the end of 2019 thanks to the commitment of TH Resorts and Fondazione CDP, SIO already has several collaborations under its belt with educational partners (such as Ca' Foscari and LUISS Business School) and companies in the tourism sector (Hilton, JW Marriott, Hyatt and Belmond, to name but a few).
