Value-Able, a value project that I have been following and supporting since 2014 and from which I have received much more than I have given.

The collaboration with AIPD began with a simple Christmas party and was consolidated over time. First, through the production of a docu-fiction that helped to turn the spotlight on a reality that was little known in Italy until then. The experience of six young people engaged in an apprenticeship in the various departments of a hotel opened the doors (and the eyes) to the great contribution that people with disabilities bring to a company. And not only in terms of operations, thanks to their commitment and strong motivation, but also of the benefits that their genuine vitality brings to a working group.

From docu-fiction to reality

The project continued within the Melià hotel group, for which I worked until 2019, and led to the hiring of several resources. Other facilities and several hotel groups in Italy then followed suit.

After leaving management for consultancy, I strongly wanted to maintain the link with AIPD and, in the desert caused by Covid, a small flower blossomed. The book I wrote during the long months of the pandemic, which deals with the secrets of becoming a good manager in the hotel business, was a success. Thus I thought the proceeds of the book could finance a new projecta scholarship to encourage other young people to enter the hospitality industry.

A project to support inclusion

And so it was. In 2021 I signed a agreement with AIPD. Thanks to it, during 2022, it was possible to support the internship of Stefano Sanfilippo of AIPD Syracuse at the Hotel Mercure . In 2023 it was the turn of Niccolò Manfredi, AIPD Rome, in the Leon's Place Hotel. and of Carla Inturrisi, AIPD Syracuse, also at the Hotel Mercure. In the same year, a portion was also allocated to support the activities of the World of Work Observatory of the national AIPD.

Thanks to the collaboration with Media Hotel Radio, we then included the awarding of the scholarships within the MHR Awards, the pre-Christmas event that rewards excellence in Italian tourism. The MHR Awards 2023 took place on Monday 11 December at the Centrale Montemartini, in Rome. The evening was attended by Carlotta Leonori and Andrea Sinno, together with Camilla Feroci, a trainee at Hilton Aleph Hotel in Rome.

It is nice to reward the stars, but even nicer to see a rising star. You too can help us support the project.
