Read a book for inspiration. When I undertook the writing of 'The Secrets of Hospitality - How to become a six-star manager', the main intention was to share my professional experience. At the same time, the book was meant to be a guide for future managers and a source of inspiration for millennials at the beginning of their career path.

Reading to help

The results rewarded the work done during the pandemic months and the book was a success in sales. I thought that, as a famous song urged, 'more can be done'. That more was to guarantee training also for young people with disabilities, through an inclusive project.

I had already worked with AIPD (Associazione Italiana Persone Down) and produced a docu-fiction, which was broadcast by RAI 3 between 2014 and 2015. Of the young people involved in the project, I had been able to appreciate the seriousness, commitment and deep gentleness they put into every task. All this, regardless of the role they held and the department in which they worked.

I felt that Inclusiveness should become an integral part of my project. Hence the decision to donate the proceeds of sales to the establishment of scholarships for children with Down syndrome.

In the 2021 and 2022 editions of the MHR Awards -events that take place just before Christmas and reward excellence in tourism - I had the pleasure and honour of presenting the first two scholarships. These young people have thus been able to start on a professional path aimed at achieving economic independence, and I plan to continue with this project to encourage other young people to join.

Reading a book to include

Reading a book to support training. Italian Hospitality School Foundation, the first Italian hotel school to apply the 'learning by doing' modelhas been a source of great inspiration for me. Only through qualified training and apprenticeships 'in the field' can one acquire knowledge and techniques useful for the profession. By funding training and apprenticeships, we will multiply the chances of employment for young people with Down Syndrome.

"Doing good by reading" is my invitation to each of you: by discovering "The Secrets Of Hospitality" you will see that the sixth star is the one that shines brightest: it is the star of Inclusiveness .
