Great was my astonishment to find a boxed game lying, somewhat aloof and now forgotten, in the pile of toys my children had played with over the years.
"HOTEL: build your hotel empire". The writing on the edge of the box is striking and invites a challenge. And the mind takes a leap back in time. I see myself as a Junior Developer, full of ideas and projects to propose and share, and I see myself as a young father eager to pass on to my children the passion that animates my every working day, the dedication profused in my desire to make every company I have worked with grow since the beginning of my career, the joy of reaching an ambitious goal, enjoying the success of my work.
IMITATION? NO, PROFESSIONAL GYM
In 'Hotel' many saw an imitation (more or less appreciated) of the celebrated 'Monopoly"but I don't. For me, this game has always been a training in many ways:
- the growth strategy
- predictive capacity
- good management of economic resources
- the 360-degree vision, indispensable for those aspiring to become General Managers
Taking up the image of training, I could say that Hotel represented it excellently, and not only for me.
How many games we played as a family, encouraging my (then) children to immerse themselves in the hotel world! How many small, unexpected lessons came out of it!
But, most of all, how close my family has been to me over all these years, supporting me every step of the way, accompanying me towards every goal, sharing my every success! Even though my children have chosen to take different paths from mine, professionally speaking, they have always been close to me and still are.
In them I see the same curious children playing with their dad to learn the trade of the manager. And to prepare for life.
