My experience in Equatorial Guinea can undoubtedly be described as beautiful, and having had the opportunity to speak with the Secretary of State of the Government with responsibility for tourism is very interesting to better understand what is going to happen soon in Equatorial Guinea and why Guinea is present at TTG.
"Our presence at TTG aims to present a new destination in Africa, a natural location and a perfect destination to talk about a highly topical issue such as sustainability. Indeed, our country presents itself as a sustainable destination, because of nature, because of all the eco-tourism activities that can be carried out on our land, and because of the wellness tourism that characterises Equatorial Guinea. Equatorial Guinea has much to offer and being at TTG serves to propose to Italians (and not only) a new destination where everything is still virgin. We love nature and our government's investment has chosen to fully respect the country's 12 parks'. says Catalina Martinez, Minister and Secretary of State of the Government with responsibility for Tourism of Equatorial Guinea.
One of the most striking aspects of Equatorial Guinea is the smile of the people, as well as the wonder of nature that surrounds anyone who chooses to visit.
It has built four large hotels within this beautiful place that is Equatorial Guinea, Vincenzo Presti, Director General Tourism of Equatorial Guinea and great hospitality expert, who has not only created four important hospitality facilities, but is also enabling them to function very well.
"Equatorial Guinea thought it best to create the infrastructure before opening up to others and to tourism, so it was not very difficult to set up the hotels. The biggest contribution we made was in the training of the workers, who until recently were not familiar with the world of hospitality." argues Vincenzo Presti.
Passion is a key driver and when it is there, it is noticeable and can make a difference in any sector or place.
Tourism and sustainability in cruising. How ships that focus on sustainability work
While Equatorial Guinea emerges as an extremely sustainable destination, it is important to understand how other forms of tourism also support the environment. One example is cruise ships, which must strive to be ever greener towards their passengers and also towards their employees.
Leonardo Massa, Country Manager Italy of MSC Cruises, talks about sustainability by stating that the MSC "it rides on two very clear and considered fundamental themes, which are the investments that companies are willing to make and technological innovations. The real driver, in terms of sustainability, for us, is preserving the sea, guaranteeing the business of the future. We are aware that the resource of the sea is not replicable and it is mandatory for us to take care of it'.
Alongside MSC's business and its ability to be green, it is also worth emphasising the amount of new jobs being created, showing entrepreneurs that being bold and focusing on innovation is always a good idea.
Cruises in Guinea. Will they soon be available?
The condition and readiness over time to be open to cruises is certainly attractive for Equatorial Guinea, which is made for the 76% of sea. Infrastructure is crucial to make tourism work at its best and this is why Guinea will certainly be one of those destinations to visit in 2023.
